Dental Insurance Explained

Dencover spoke to Dr. Ian Davies, a Dental Surgeon working in North West London about Dental Insurance.

“Whenever I see patients they often ask me how often they should come and visit their dentist and generally speaking one should come every six to twelve months.” Said Dr. Davies.

“When somebody buys a car they’ll always make sure that car is serviced regularly and teeth should be no different. Servicing your teeth will involve seeing the dentist regularly which in my opinion is one of the best ways to avoid any kind of extensive dental treatment. Obviously one of the barriers to dentistry is cost. Be it NHS or Private there is in most circumstances going to be a cost and it is a great shame if that should be a barrier to seeing your dentist. One of the very good ways of facilitating this cost and removing that barrier is a dental insurance. When treatment is needed on the National Health one of the concerns of patients is how long they’ll need to wait. Privately this waiting time is often reduced and a dental insurance is a great way to facilitating these costs.”
